A Quintessential Austin Elopement | Texas Wedding Photographer

A quintessential Austin elopement doesn't have to mean running off to a courthouse and calling it a day. For A and D, it meant celebrating a love story that had been growing for almost their entire lives. Celebrating with the people, places, and little things that make their relationship special. No big production or packed timeline. Just a day that felt like them, in the city they love.

We started at The Carpenter Hotel, where we spent some time capturing relaxed portraits with their sweet pup, who has been part of their family for six years.

The warm interiors, natural light, and cozy atmosphere made it the perfect place to ease into the day. I love this hotel so much! I’d photograph here again anytime. It makes for images that feel intimate and lived-in, like a little peek into their everyday life together.

(And having their pup included made it all the more special!!)

A Short Ceremony With a Whole Lot of Love

Next, we went into the heart of downtown Austin to the courthouse for their ceremony. The actual time in front of the judge lasted less than five minutes, but you wouldn't know it from the smiles on their faces. Their judge was incredibly sweet, and the moment was simple, but full to the brim with meaning.

A wore a beautiful ivory mini dress with puff sleeves and colorful buttons, paired with cream heels. D wore a tailored blue suit with a crisp white shirt. Their outfits were polished without being overly formal, which was just right for the day they had planned. A colorful bouquet of pink, yellow, and purple blooms added the loveliest pop of color.

After the ceremony, we wandered through the courthouse, taking portraits on the marble staircase, celebrating with their witnesses and capturing all those “oh my gosh we just got MARRIED!!!” moments.

Pizza and Records for Their Quintessential Austin Elopement

One of my favorite things about this day was how organically it unfolded. Instead of rushing from one timeline event to the next, we made room for the things A and D genuinely enjoy.

Our afternoon included:

  • Favorite Pizza: Grabbing a bite, sharing a few laughs, and taking portraits beneath the iconic neon sign.

  • Waterloo Records: Browsing records together and finding something to remember their wedding day by.

  • Time with their pup: Making sure their longtime companion had a place in the story, too.

We spent the day hanging out, exploring, and documenting their connection as it happened. Much of their gallery was photographed on 35mm and 120 film, giving these memories that nostalgic, timeless quality I love so much.

As an Austin wedding photographer who has worked with dozens of couples on their big day… it never gets old to see each day unfold in a way that is authentic to each of my couples.

A Wedding Day That Felt Like Real Life

A and D's elopement was such a beautiful reminder that your wedding doesn't need to look extravagant to be meaningful. It can be a few important minutes at the courthouse followed by pizza, record shopping, and time with your favorite little family member.

The best part? These two got to enjoy their day on their terms. Celebrate the way they wanted to. In my book, that’s what it’s all about.

If you're dreaming of a wedding day that feels personal, intentional, and a little unconventional, let this be your reminder that you get to make the rules.

Your quintessential Austin elopement can be whatever feels most like you.
