Should You Do A Babymoon Photo Session? | Austin Maternity Photographer
Have you heard of Onera in Wimberley yet?! If you’re an Austin local, chances are this place has popped up in your feed already. But did you know you can do a photo session there? This babymoon session was a recent favorite of mine.
And it was even more special because I've known Charlene through photography for years. Getting to photograph her and JP as they prepare to welcome their baby girl was quite the honor.
From the moment I arrived, the entire vibe felt so slow & intentional.
No busy schedules or distractions. Just quality time together before their lives change (in the most beautiful way).
I loved that they brought in a photographer to their already-planned babymoon.
When you’re in the hustle & bustle of preparing for baby, adding a photo session can feel like a to-do task. That’s not what I want for you!
Planning you photos for while you’re already away… relaxing and really enjoying this season of life… that feels so aligned!
One of my favorite things about this session was how naturally it unfolded.
Charlene and JP spent the morning curled up together in their cozy cabin, sharing snacks, drinking coffee, and talking about the future.
Their outfits matched the relaxed atmosphere perfectly. Charlene wore a soft fitted tee paired with loose denim that highlighted her growing bump. JP kept things simple in a textured white button-up and jeans. The neutral tones worked so well against the warm wood walls and soft window light.
Rather than focusing on perfect poses, we documented what this season actually feels like.
Quiet conversations over morning coffee. Gentle touches. Shared excitement. The little moments that become some of the most meaningful memories later on.
And Onera in Wimberley was the perfect spot for maternity photos!
This is one of those places that immediately helps you slow down.
The unique cabins do such a good job of blending modern design with the surrounding Texas Hill Country. Every corner of the property feels peaceful and thoughtfully designed.
Okay here’s my photographer’s check list of why I loved photographing here:
Beautiful natural light throughout the cabins
Warm wood interiors that create beautiful backdrops
Private spaces for all those candid moments
The iconic Texas scenic views without needing to travel far
A perfect destination for a babymoon getaway (literally soooo relaxing)
Honestly, I loved Onera so much that I ended up booking it for my own honeymoon!! It’s so good!
Babymoon at Onera Wimberley
Much of this session was photographed on film, which felt like the perfect fit for the experience. Film has a way of slowing things down and preserving moments with an added sense of nostalgia. I love blending it into my portrait sessions!
Even though the weather was overcast, and we never got the dramatic sunset we originally imagined, the soft clouds created beautiful, even light all day long.
Charlene and JP embraced all of it during their babymoon at Onera in Wimberley, creating space to connect with each other before welcoming their daughter. I was so honored to be their photographer for this profound life change.
Congratulations again, you two!!
