Backyard Wedding in Texas Hill Country | Austin Photographer
This backyard wedding so was unbelievably special. Not only is it already special that these two are starting their next chapter of life together… but they chose a location that held so much meaning! Their wedding day took place at the bride’s parents’ home in La Coste, Texas. They were surrounded by the landscape she grew up in. And the people who mattered the most to them.
It was truly a day to remember.
They designed the aesthetic around the location. It was cool to see the juxtaposition of modern elements alongside western, nostalgic elements. Nothing about the day was overly formal. Instead, it unfolded slowly, like a good book.
With plenty of room for good food, long conversations, laughter, and simply being together.
If this is what the new version of backyard weddings is like: sign me up every single time.
A Modern Bride With a Little Western Spirit
The bride’s look was effortlessly modern. Her sleek, fitted white gown had a beautiful simplicity to it, paired with a delicate pink veil that moved dramatically in the Texas wind. Against the warm wood of the family home and the golden fields, the soft blush of the veil was a playful and unexpected touch.
The groom complemented her perfectly in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie. Together, they created this really beautiful contrast between polished and relaxed.
And then there were the flowers. Their colorful, sculptural bouquet brought in shades of peach, pink, green, and deep burgundy, adding even more personality to an already thoughtful day. Their florist was Reiley and Rose. I highly recommend if you’re planning a Texas wedding!
They said I Do under a big tent for their backyard wedding.
Their loved ones surrounded them for this big moment and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight! They were finally Mr & Mrs!!
Afterward, they kicked off a beautiful cocktail hour under the Texas sun. The breeze kept everyone cool and they all enjoyed good food & good drinks!
At sunset, I stole away the newlyweds for some portraits in the fading sunlight.
I loved our golden hour portraits out in the field. With the breeze and ribbons and glowy light… it felt like they were plucked straight out of a movie.
It was a nice moment the two of them could really pause, and take in the fact that they were OFFICIALLY MARRIED. The joy was so palpable. I love capturing newlywed portraits for this reason!
A Wedding Built Around What Matters
The couple transformed the family’s garage and barn into their reception spaces, creating something that felt both intentional and completely at home in the landscape. Their wedding planner was Ken Events, and they pulled together the whole day so wonderfully.
A few details that made their backyard wedding feel especially personal:
A ceremony beneath a sailcloth tent overlooking the fields
Portraits in the brush and golden grass the bride grew up watching
A relaxed reception with their people
Dinner, drinks, and conversation instead of a traditional dance floor
A fire pit and late-night cigars as the evening carried on
As the sun went down, the mood shifted from bright and breezy to warm and intimate.
Guests gathered around the fire, drinks in hand, while the newlyweds soaked in the last hours of their wedding day.
And one of the sweetest moments came at the end of the night. Because the groom’s parents live abroad and couldn’t attend, the couple FaceTimed them as newlyweds, surrounded by the people who had celebrated alongside them.
It was the perfect ending to a wedding that never tried to be anything other than itself. Nostalgic without feeling dated. Modern without losing its sense of place.
